Critical Thinking, Creative Problem Solving & Decision-making
Best Investment in People? Develop Cognition
The ability to think quickly and clearly, to be creative in finding solutions, and to take the right decisions with awareness of the impact of time, are cornerstones of being human. Over two days, this course takes you from Critical Thinking 101, through to creative problem-solving techniques, and to decision frameworks.
- Think quickly and clearly, using mental frameworks
- Factor time into processes and decisions
- Communicate with empathy and without ambiguity
- Develop a critical appreciation of the strengths and weaknesses of AI
Hands-on workshops
Each of the 8 sessions comprises theory, several Australasian examples, and a few warm-up thinking exercises.
Summarising each session is a group exercise, bringing together all the tools learned to solve a practical problem.
The instructor will constantly look for ways to adapt the learning to your own situation, making this feel more ‘workshop’ than passive training.
Practical Outcomes
Just a few examples of great outcomes:
Use time more effectively. Understand its impact and make it a part of every process. Time is our precious resource.
Use mental tools, not intellectual ‘might’. Simplify and solve in smaller steps using techniques and tools. Build confidence.
Explore fantastic creative techniques and apply them back at work to bring the rest of the team along on your journey.
Course Delivery
While it’s great to be in-person with the instructor, this course works extremely well remotely too. Participants are mentally ‘present’ in each exercise, and working with others who might be in-person or remote. Group work is optionally on paper and/or virtual whiteboards. Communicating how we think is a big takeaway.
Each of the 8 sessions introduces 3 tools and/or techniques, building a sizeable toolset. This is reinforced with a 24-card deck — one handy takeaway quick-reference card per tool or technique. Very useful back in the office! The course is delivered progressively, giving the distinct feeling of building a personal thinking toolset.
There are four approachable scenarios used to contextualise the learning: a large Government agency, an eCommerce startup, a Power Company, and a Recreational Marina. The course can also be adapted to your own scenario (please talk with us).
