GoalScoping: 25 May, Wellington NZ

$750.00

This instructor-led scheduled public course runs in Wellington’s CBD on the 25th May 2026, 9am-4pm NZDT. It is open to in-person learners, and we also welcome remote learners. Even in different time zones.

The seat price is per person and includes NZ GST of 15%. For groups, speak with us for a group price, and maybe for customisation around a specific corporate goal. In fact all individual learners may bring their own work if they like.

All BCL courses are guaranteed to run per the schedule, regardless of the number of seats booked.

Many ways to enquire/book. Use the Cart, or reach out to us and we’ll book you in manually.

GoalScoping is the ability to diagramatically engage a room of stakeholders and team members around a central goal. Then deconstruct that goal in smaller goals within a rational structure, before finally turning attention to building the sets of tasks that will accomplish the goals. It allows teams to bring their best minds to creative approaches to solve the goals, not simply manage tasks.

This method has been used by the course instructor since 2000 over hundreds of projects, books, change programs … anything that has required strong direction across large task-sets and teams. Within GoalScoping are dozens of smaller tools and mental models to take people on journeys to explore the goals before committing to them. One example is DEBT, a way of applying Lean thinking.

The course is run the same way a real GoalScoping session would run: hands-on with practical examples on the physical and virtual whiteboard. Everyone is asked to get involved. It’s a great to experience it from the various points of view of the team — from sponsor and senior stakeholder, to facilitator, to hands-on team member. Get ready for new ways to see a work breakdown structure.

There are five big outcomes for this training day:

Visualise Work Better

Become better at visualising goals. Not just for you — for every stakeholder, team player, sponsor and critic. Be able to speak to the work

Be Even More Goal-focused

Lead with a big focus on goals. People feel autonomy because they can see the end-goals and rationalise their tasks

Find New Ways to Structure Work

Allow your team to see how it all hangs together, and how the work fits the bigger agendas in play

Become More Flexible & Tactical

Develop the ability in yourself and your people to see past the work and chase down the outcomes

Open Up the Dialogue More

Engage people in work that they find meaning in and are able to ask smart questions about

All courses are run both in-person in an instructor-led room, and also virtually on MS Teams. Often we will have both physically present learners plus remote learners.

BCL strives to create an engaged experience. Regardless of whether you’re actually in the room, you’ll be part of workshops and teamed-up with other people.

An option some people choose is to attend a multi-day course partly in-person, partly remotely. It really is up to you and the way you assimilate information best
